Can I pick up the vehicle when the car rental agency is closed?

SDQ opens 24/, all other airport location offer free "Attend-late-arrival" service on request. To take advantage of this service it is advised to contact the pickup location directly. We will do our best to accommodate you.

Can I get the reserved vehicle delivered to me?

No, due to insurance regulations and credit card requirements you need to come to our agency to sign all the required documentation.

What if I am late picking up my reserved vehicle?

If you are renting from the airport and you have supplied us with your flight number we will be informed of all delayed flights and will wait for you for up to 1 hour after our closing time. If you are over one hour late your reservation will be deferred to the next day which may result in a rate change. We ask you to contact our agency if you are going to be late.

What do I do when I land at the Airport?

SDQ Airport (Santo Domingo): Walk to the in terminal counter, is in the rent a car section of the airport. Follow signage.

PUJ Airport (Punta Cana): Walk to the in terminal counter, in the rent a car section of the airport. Follow signage.

POP Airport (Puerto Plata): Walk to the in terminal counter, in the rent a car section of the airport. Follow signage.

STI Airport (Santiago): An AmeriRent staff member will be waiting for you in the terminal exit. If you can't find him kindly call us at 1 809-612-5080 or 1-829-599-4351 after you have cleared customs and retrieved your luggage.

We kindly advise to provide the flight number, if you already made your reservation but didn't provide your flight number you can modify your reservation (link), or just send us a message (Link to contact us) with the flight number and reservation confirmation number and well be happy to modify your reservation information.

Why are there extra fees when renting from the airport?

Unfortunately, this is a mandatory standard worldwide fee for all rentals originating from the airport.

Should I inspect the vehicle before leaving your premises?

Yes, we advise you to double-check the inspection report with the rental agent and note any discrepancies or damages.

If I forgot my driver's license, can I still pick up the rental car?

No, for primary (principle) driver we require to see the physical driver's license upon pick up of the vehicle.

Can I pay in advance for fuel?

Yes. A prepaid tank of gas is a great option to save money and time. Our gas rates are checked daily and exactly as current rate at the local gas stations.

Does the additional driver need to be physically present at the rental agency at time of pickup?

No, you only need to bring a photocopy of his/her driver's license.

If I forgot to bring my credit card at pick up, can I still get the rental car?

No, the credit card of the primary driver must be physically present at time pick up.

If I bring back the vehicle early, do I get a refund?

Yes, you will only be charge for the time you used the vehicle, however a rate change may apply.

What if I return the car late?

AmeriRent offers a grace period of 1 hour. The 2nd hour will be charged on a rate depending on the class of the rented vehicle. If you are more than 5 hours late you will be charged an extra day.

What is the return procedure?

Once you provide the car keys to the AmeriRent agent, he/she will document the mileage/kilometers, fuel level and do a visual inspection of the vehicle. If there is no damage the agent will close your contract.

Can I return the vehicle after hours?

Yes, upon pick up you can arrange with the rental agent an after hour drop off and they will be there waiting for you.

Do I need to return the vehicle with a full tank?

Yes, unless you have purchased prepaid fuel, you must return the vehicle at the same gas level that it was when you took possession of it. Otherwise, gas charges will apply.

Must I clean the vehicle before returning it?

No, you do not have to clean the vehicle.

May I return the vehicle to a location other than the one I picked it up from?

Yes, you may return the vehicle at another location, however fees may apply.

If you select a different drop off location when making a reservation the system will indicate the drop off cost.

Can someone other than myself return the vehicle?

Yes, as long as that person is included in the rental agreement as an additional driver.

What if a new damage is noticed when vehicle is returned?

Not to worry, your rental agent will be happy to walk you through the process. The procedures will vary depending on the coverage you selected.

What if I get tickets?

If you get a ticket you will have 30 days to pay it; we recommend that you pay it within this time. Otherwise, it will be sent to us and your credit card will be charged for the amount.

May I return the vehicle at the airport parking?

SDQ Airport (Santo Domingo): Go to the rent a car return section in at the airport and find our counter.

PUJ Airport (Punta Cana): Park at the airport parking lot and find our counter at the rent a car section.

POP Airport (Puerto Plata): Park at the airport parking lot and find our counter at the rent a car section.

STI Airport (Santiago): Return at the AmeriRent location. Shuttle will take you to the airport.

Lost and found, what if I forget something in the rental vehicle?

If you believe you have forgotten something in your rented car, call the branch (link to locations) where the vehicle was returned immediately, we will do our best to help you retrieve it. However, we are not responsible for any belongings lost or stolen on our premises or in one of our vehicles.
